You couldn’t be heard above the bacchanalia. Above the shaming rituals of the ugly herd. And you were alone while the children were laughing.They were digging out the fields for a makeshift grave.

And you heard music and saw your music teacher blowing her recorder and playing her bells. And you were following, following the music. It came from underwater and the underground. There was a convict, he was covered in tattoos. He was covered in purple snakes, angry like your father. And he wanted to kiss you and he wanted to kill you. He didn’t like the music so he tried to drown you. And while he was holding you down, he became a child. And he was only tickling you and you woke up laughing. Screaming laughing, screaming laughing. You woke up screaming laughing. Screaming.
